Dental Implants

Losing even a single tooth can cause neighboring teeth to shift and destabilize your bite over time, leading to further tooth loss and bone deterioration. At Sacramento Holistic Dentist in Carmichael, CA, we offer both titanium and metal-free zirconia dental implants for single or multiple tooth replacement — planned with onsite 3D imaging, performed with minimally invasive techniques, and priced transparently with no upsell pressure.

"Restoring function while preserving bone, and doing so in the most biocompatible way possible, is of utmost importance." — Dr. Yana Pekarski, DDS

Titanium Dental Implants

Titanium is the most widely used and extensively researched dental implant material in the world, with more than 50 years of documented clinical success. Titanium implants integrate predictably with the jawbone, offer exceptional strength, and are appropriate for nearly every tooth replacement situation — from a single missing tooth to a full arch restoration. For most patients, a titanium implant is the proven, reliable foundation for a new tooth that looks, feels, and functions naturally.

Zirconia Dental Implants — The Metal-Free Alternative

For patients who prefer to avoid metal entirely, we also place zirconia dental implants — a 100% metal-free ceramic option. Zirconia is white in color (no gray shadowing through thin gums) and is a popular choice among health-conscious patients seeking a holistic approach. During your consultation, Dr. Pekarski will review both materials with you and recommend the option best suited to your anatomy, health history, and personal preferences.

Tooth Replacement Options with Implants

Whether you are missing one tooth or need a complete arch rebuilt, Dr. Pekarski offers a solution scaled to your situation:

Implant Planning with Onsite CBCT Imaging

Every implant placement begins with a CBCT 3D scan performed right here in our Carmichael office. This cone beam CT imaging shows bone volume, nerve canals, sinus anatomy, and more — allowing Dr. Pekarski to plan your implant placement precisely and safely without sending you to a separate imaging center.

From that 3D plan, we create custom surgical guides for implant placement. The guide is made for your anatomy and directs the implant to the exact position, angle, and depth that was planned — so the placement happens just as it was designed.

Comfortable, Minimally Invasive Care

We strive to make every visit as comfortable as possible and prioritize minimally invasive treatment at each step. Implant placement is performed under local anesthesia, and we offer nitrous oxide and sedation dentistry options for patients who want additional anxiety management.

Frequently Asked Questions

Titanium is the most researched implant material with the longest clinical track record, exceptional strength, and predictable healing — it is an excellent choice for most patients. Zirconia is a metal-free ceramic alternative preferred by patients who want to avoid metal. Dr. Pekarski will review your CBCT scan, health history, and preferences to recommend the right material for your case.

Yes. Titanium has been used in dental and orthopedic implants for over 50 years and is highly biocompatible. True titanium allergy is rare; if you have known metal sensitivities, we can discuss testing or recommend a metal-free zirconia implant instead.

Neighboring teeth shift toward the gap, causing bite problems, additional tooth loss, and progressive bone loss in the jaw. The longer a missing tooth goes unreplaced, the more bone volume is lost, which can complicate future implant placement.

If a tooth needs to be extracted first, the extraction site typically heals for 4–6 months before the implant is placed. After implant placement, there is another 4–6 months of healing (osseointegration) before the crown is placed. Occasionally we can extract the tooth and place the implant at the same visit — in that case, there is a single 6-month healing phase before the crown is fabricated.

Most plans don't cover implants, but we accept out-of-network insurance benefits. Contact us to discuss payment options.

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, and we offer sedation options for anxious patients — our goal is to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. Most patients report mild soreness for a few days post-procedure, manageable with over-the-counter pain medication.
